Animal Universe

Animal Universe is an interactive game for children in kindergarten and early elementary grades. This activity is designed to introduce children to basic concepts related to educational standards in the Life Sciences
and Geography.

The Animal Universe game is easy to play. After selecting one of the twelve habitats, a scene is displayed along with six animals. Three of the animals belong in the habitat. Children drag an animal into the scene and hear its name spoken. If the animal doesn't belong, it disappears. An animal that does belong pops into the scene. It is then briefly animated and a factoid is presented. A round of the game is finished when three animals are in the habitat. An animal card is presented at the end of each round. There are a total of sixty different animal cards!

Each animal card contains basic physical feature stats, a picture, a distribution map, and factoids. The card also includes access to a sound and video clip for many of
the animals.

As children play Animal Universe, they can explore many Life Sciences and Geography topics. With the Animal Universe activity, children have the opportunity to

- learn about different types of habitats,
- identify where different habitats are in
  the world,
- identify living and nonliving parts of habitats,
- compare habitats to one another,
- learn about characteristics of many animals,
- explore how animals interact with
  their environment,
- explore the interactions of animals living in the
  same habitat,
- and much more!

Animal Universe is an entertaining multimedia activity that your children will enjoy playing over and over again! They'll want to investigate all twelve habitats so they get to see each one of the sixty animal cards. And all the while your children will be experiencing the excitement and fun of learning!
